Eye of the TurtleNormally it's a bummer when you run into a turtle and your camera is setup with a macro lens. But this turtle was clearly cool with divers being in the water, and he let me make a close approach and really capture the beautiful detail around the eye and face.
Peppermint GobyI like shooting macro because you get to slow down and look for the little things, like this peppermint goby hanging out on a large brain coral.
Yellownose GobyThe healthy brain corals on Bonaire provide a habitat for lots of tiny creatures like this Yellownose goby.
Anemone and EelThis anemone and eel made for excellent roommates on the reef.
Lettuce Sea SlugBright and colorful with curly ruffles resembling leaf lettuce, this animal is in part of a group known as sap-sucking slugs because they feed on algae.
Tiger GrouperThis tiger grouper found a nice little resting spot in a sponge growing on the Salt Pier in Bonaire. The Salt Pier is an excellent spot for a night dive.
OctopusOctopus can be found on reefs in Bonaire hidden away during the daytime. To spot them, you've got to look for their watchful eye ever so slightly popping out from their hiding spot.
Its All in the EyesScorpionfish are experts at hiding. To spot them and other fish that blend in to their surroundings a photographer needs to look for the one thing that gives them away — their eye.
Pink FlamingoOn Bonaire, Pink Flamingos can be found on the south part of the island near the salt pier. They feed on a small pink crustacean that lives in the lagoon, which gives them their distinct pink feathers.
Caribbean Frogfish
Bonaire FlowersThere's also a lot of interesting stuff to see topside in Bonaire, including beautiful plant life.
Scorpionfish
CactusIf you look closely, you'll see this cactus is almost perfectly symmetrical.
Hermit Crab
Slave HutsSlavery is a part of the history in the Caribbean that can't be overlooked. On Bonaire that reminder is clear when you see what were the living quarters of the slaves who worked in the salt industry at the time.
